Owner and Operator Responsibilities

This guide should be used in conjuction with the Operator's manual for this unit:

• This guide has been adapted from the OEC 9800 Operator's manual,



• The equipment owner is responsible for ensuring that:
  • Only persons qualified under Ontario regulations operate this or any other x-ray unit,
  • The equipment is registered with the appropriate Ministry through either Medical Engineering or the Radiation Protection Office,
  • The equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications,
  • The unit is tested for compliance with radiation protection regulations,
  
  
  
• The equipment operator is responsible for assuring;
  • The device is used safely and in accordance with all prevailing standards,
  • That ALARA is practiced so that doses to patient, staff and self are kept to As Low As Reasonably Achievable (The ALARA Principle).
