Radiation risks are described at length elsewhere in this website but to refresh on it:
- Minimize the patient to image receptor distance (reduce geometric magnification),
- Use patient gonadal protection whenever it does not interfere with the procedure,
- Use the minimum dose setting that accomplishes Operator imaging objectives,
- Use Last Image Hold (LIH) and pulsed fluoroscopy when possible,
- Minimize the time spent on magnified views - these increase the intensity of the radiation beam to the patient,
- Make certain the spacer cone on the tube head is in place, this ensures the patient does not get to close to the radiation source,
