Safety:
Reducing risks due to fluid and/or fume intrusion

Prevention is essential. Drape the tube head, the image receptor and the hand and footswitches for use in environments where fluids may be present. Do not use the system in the presence of flammable or explosive fumes unless it is cleared for that use by the Vendor.

Intrusion of fluids :

When prevention fails, there is an ongoing risk for electrical shock to workers and the patient. A worker should act to protect the patient, but not put themselves in harm's way while doing so. DO NOT STAND IN FLUID AND TOUCH THE DEVICE OR THE PATIENT.
  1. IF THE UNIT POWERED UP use a non-conductive material to carefully turn off the unit at the power switch if you can stand in a dry area while doing this.
  2. IF THE AREA AROUND THE POWER OUTLET IS DRY AND THE CORD IS DRY: Use one hand to disengage the electric plug from the outlet,
  3. If actions 1 and/or 2 cannot be done from a position of safety, try to move the patient away from the machine and call your service providor for further instructions.
Intrusion of combustable or flammable fumes:
  • Follow facility requirements for this situation, but note that touching any control or attempting to power down the unit may create a spark that could be an ignition source.
