The C-arm and monitor assemblies are not waterproof nor entirely vapour-proof.

Intrusion of fluids may cause:

• Shock or electrocution of patient or worker,
• Short circuit leading to equipment damage and failure,
• Corrosion of components leading to premature or catastrophic failure,
• Fire if the fluid is combustable.

Intrusion of fumes may cause:

• Corrosion of components leading to premature or catastrophic failure,
• Corrosion of components in the imaging plane, causing image quality deterioration,
• Combustion or explosive combustion if the fume is flammable and it encounters a sparking or arcing internal component.
