Reducing Mechanical Risks

Minimize risk of collision by;

• Keeping carts, trolleys and other wheeled secondary equipment out of obvious collision zones,
• Checking clearances before activating any motorized component,
• Warning fellow workers when movements are to be engaged,
• Keeping control consoles for motorized movements free from binding cables or materials that might trigger accidental activation and movement,
• Having the unit checked out by a service agent if there is any evidence of erratic or uncommanded movement of a motorized component (e.g. when there are signs of a sticking switch or relay),

Minimize risk of other accidents by:

• Engaging and checking the hold of locks and brakes,
• Evaluate the positioning of cables to minimize trip hazards,
• Have a service agent check out any component undergoing a collision to ensure it is undamaged and safe to use,
